Disinfection in beauty salon
Disinfection in beauty salon, as well as in hairdressers, must be one of the main priorities of the owners of these facilities to guarantee hygiene and safety to all their customers.
In places like these, where “skin” contact with the customer is almost inevitable, which enhances cross-contamination opportunities, increasing the probability of contracting infections, infectious diseases, skin fungi and much more.
Cleaning the environments is not enough to guarantee the total elimination of viruses and germs: for this reason, the disinfection and decontamination of these places and working tools is the only way to prevent the spread of pathogens potentially harmful to human health.
Ensuring hygiene and safety is important not only to protect the health of the customers of your beauty salon or hairdresser’s store, but also (and above all) to protect your and your employees’ health.
In fact, according to the provisions of Italian Legislative Decree 81/08 on safety in the workplace, the employer has the responsibility to ensure healthy working environments to their employees, and among the activities indicated to be compliant with it, in addition to cleaning, we also find the disinfection and decontamination of environments.

Hygienic risks in
the field of aesthetics
The tools and treatments that are carried out within all the structures intended for the care and wellness of the person such as beauty salons, hairdressers, barbers, nail studios, massage centres, etc. make these environments potential places of infection.
In fact, those are habitats favourable to the proliferation and transmission of viruses, bacteria, fungi and other pathogenic organisms.
The tools used (needles, tweezers, scissors, razors, etc..) can cause wounds on the skin of customers and therefore potentially meet their blood. If this tool is infected, you risk dangerous diseases such as hepatitis A – B – C and HIV.
To limit infections, operators use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided, such as disposable gloves, but regular disinfection of rooms, work surfaces and tools is essential.
Contaminations that may occur in these environments are:
- Direct contamination (direct contact with the infected person)
- Indirect contamination (the operator touches a surface with a contaminated glove, whoever touches that surface is indirectly infected)
- Cross-contamination (the individual who touches the contaminated surface, carries the pathogen by touching other surfaces, which in contact with other people will spread the contagion).

Finally, in addition to bacteria, germs and viruses that can be transmitted from person to person, in the air and on surfaces there are other pollutants equally dangerous to human health, such as: dust, pollen, fungal spores and again, molds and other substances that are formed and developed inside the aeraulic systems due to the combination of contamination and moisture.
If the hygiene regulations are not respected, the risks may therefore be identified as:
- Risk for customers to contract infections, diseases, fungus, warts, etc.
- Risk of an increase in operators' diseases.
Also under a business point of view, uncleaned places lead the customer to distrust the service offered and to leave negative reviews. These events negatively affect the image and reputation of the facility, resulting in loss of customers.
The advantages of disinfecting beauty salons

DESTRUCTION OF BAD SMELLS

AERAULIC SYSTEMS FREE OF HARMFUL MICROORGANISMS

CLEAN AND DISINFECTED SURFACES

REMOVAL OF VOLATILE RESIDUES LEFT BY CHEMICAL DETERGENTS USED FOR THE DAILY CLEANING OF ENVIRONMENTS

REMOVAL/REDUCTION OF PESTS SUCH AS: MOSQUITOES, ANTS, BUGS, FLIES, ETC.

How we disinfect your beauty salon
In a beauty salon, as well as in a hairdresser salon, the disinfection activity must ensure total disinfection of:
- All surfaces (floors, walls, glass, ceilings, etc.).
- The beauty booths and their interior decoration (mirrors, beds, doors, handles, worktops, etc.).
- Tanning lamps
- Equipment and tools
- Common rooms such as: entrance hall, reception, waiting room, corridors, toilets
- The aeraulic systems
In order to disinfect the environment of your beauty salon, we at GEA propose you two disinfectant solutions: ozone (O3) or hydrogen peroxide stabilized (H2O2).
How does it work?
Following the ordinary cleaning carried out by your employees (or cleaning company), our environmental technician will disinfect the environment of your beauty salon.
Ozone is delivered to the room through a specific machinery, the ozone generaotr. The duration of the intervention depends on the size of the room, it usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
The hydrogen peroxide stabilized, on the other hand, is used in atomization, so it will be nebulized in the room or inside the ducts and in the A.T.U. (Air Treatment Unit) and then in the environments.
Both solutions disinfect the air and surfaces thanks to the use of professional and certified devices. These products are natural and do not damage the surfaces with which they come into contact.
In order to show you the effectiveness of the activity, our specialized technician takes samples from the treated surfaces (both before and after disinfecting them) in order to have them analysed by a laboratory accredited for microbiological analysis.
We release to you the technical report related to the intervention that will therefore also contain the results of the analysis of the microbial load on the surfaces.
